Purple Woods Conservation Area
About
Purple Woods Conservation Area is a 41-acre forested gem perched atop the Oak Ridges Moraine, offering year-round hiking with spectacular southern views and access to the Oak Ridges Trail. Families will love the accessible 900-metre Discovery Walk, the chance to spot spring and fall migratory songbirds, summer Monarch butterflies, and vibrant autumn colours. In March, the area comes alive with the Purple Woods Maple Syrup Festival, where visitors can explore a 150-year-old sugar maple forest, learn about syrup-making from Indigenous methods to modern techniques, and purchase maple products. Parking is $7 per vehicle per day, and leashed pets are welcome on the trails.
