Plaza Lavalle is a historic public square in the heart of Buenos Aires, surrounded by some of the city's most significant civic institutions including the Teatro Colón opera house, the Palace of Justice, and the Federal Courts building. The leafy square features mature trees, fountains, benches, and a children's play area, and has been a gathering place for Buenos Aires residents since the nineteenth century. It is one of the city's most culturally important and visited green spaces.
