Neptune's Grotto
About This Place
Neptune's Grotto (Grotta di Nettuno) is a spectacular sea cave carved into the limestone cliffs of Cape Caccia, near Alghero on the northwest coast of Sardinia. One of the most impressive caves in the Mediterranean, it stretches for several kilometres and features dramatic stalactite and stalagmite formations, underground lakes, and eerie blue lighting. Visitors can access the grotto by boat from Alghero harbour, or descend the famous Escala del Cabirol — a vertiginous stairway of 654 steps cut into the cliff face.
