Scotney Castle is a romantic National Trust property in the Weald of Kent, near Lamberhurst. The estate centres on a picturesque ruined 14th-century moated castle, set in a quarry garden designed in the 1840s by Edward Hussey III. The ruins are surrounded by sweeping herbaceous borders and rhododendron woodland that reach peak colour in spring. The adjoining Victorian mansion has elegant rooms to explore, and the estate's woodland and farmland walks offer wonderful views across the High Weald.
