Metropolitan Cathedral–Basilica of the Assumption of Our Lady of Valencia
About
The Metropolitan Cathedral-Basilica of Saint Mary of Valencia — Valencians call it La Seu — is a Gothic masterpiece at the heart of Valencia's old city, begun in 1262 on the site of a former mosque. Its most celebrated treasure is the Santo Cáliz chapel, which houses a first-century agate chalice venerated by many as the authentic Holy Grail and brought to Valencia in 1437. Highlights include the Micalet bell tower (open for panoramic views), the original Gothic nave, and a free-standing chapel containing works attributed to Goya.
