Lipica is home to the legendary Kobilarna Lipica — the Lipica Stud Farm, one of the oldest and most prestigious horse studs in the world. Founded in 1580 by the Habsburg Archduke Charles II, it is the birthplace of the famous white Lipizzan horses, today also bred for the Spanish Riding School in Vienna. Visitors can watch graceful classical dressage performances, take guided stable tours to meet the horses, and enjoy carriage rides through the Karst limestone plateau. The surrounding parkland and hotel complex make it a full-day excursion close to Trieste and the Slovenian coast.
