About
Butser Ancient Farm is an open-air research centre and archaeological heritage attraction near Waterlooville in Hampshire, recreating life on prehistoric and Roman-era farms. Set on the South Downs, the site features authentic ancient buildings reconstructed from archaeological evidence, from Neolithic round houses to an Iron Age roundhouse and a Roman villa. Visitors can try hands-on workshops in bronze casting, flintknapping, chainmail making, and other ancient crafts, and explore the living history demonstrations and animal enclosures. Seasonal events include themed weekends throughout the year.
